HBSE Scrapped Semester System in Haryana for Classes 9th to 12th from 2016-17

No more Semester System in Haryana Schools from 9th -12th

(Last Updated : 06.04.16). HBSE informed all its branches to scrap the Semester System for class 10th & 12th for the session 2016-17. Haryana Government had decided in June 2016 to abolish the Semester System for classes 9th to 12th in Haryana Schools. The Govt. had decided to abolish the Semester System w.e.f. the last academic session i.e. 2015-16 for classes 9th & 11th. Semester System for classes 10th & 12th has been abolished from the academic session i.e. 2016-17. So there will be no semester system for any class i.e. 9th to 12th from the current academic session i.e. 2016-17.


HBSE Supplementary Exam September 2016 & Annual Exam March 2017


There will be no semester system in 2016-17 for classes 10th & 12th. Supplementary exam will be held in September 2016 for the candidates of PAR/Re-appear/Improvement/Additional Subjects of the last academic session 2015-16.

There will be only Annual Exam March 2017 for the current academic session 2016-17.

It is notable that semester system has been blamed for the poor results in class 10th & 12th. The board result of class 10th and 12th for the session 2014-15 has been considered poorest in the history of board results in Haryana. There were demands from many sections of the educational society to abolish the semester system in Haryana schools.

The Director, Secondary Education, Haryana had issued a letter regarding the abolition of semester system to the Secretary, Haryana Board of School Education, Bhiwani. Here is the letter :
